Hear It From The Winners

Below are the stories of past Scholarship Winners and their experience with the
East Wake Scholarship Foundation.

I have now graduated from UNC-Pembroke in the spring of 2021 with a computer Science degree. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a nearly 3.9 GPA ! I started my MBA work and achieved a 4.0 GPA after my 1st semester ! I have now started a full time job as Technical Community Support for all UNC-P off campus locations. The EWHS Scholarship has allowed me to earn a degree without any student debt ! I am very thankful for the Foundation helping other students who also have financial challenges and thankful to ALL East Wake alum who have donated to the scholarship fund!

Class of 2017

Thanks to the EWHSAA I have been able to graduate with honors from Campbell University with a 3.7 GPA and a degree in Biology! I have already started to work as a medical assistant an an urgent care facility near Dunn NC. I am a first generation college student and that also makes me quite proud ! Even though I am still navigating my journey I know I will always have the support of the Scholarship Foundation & I can never thank them enough!

Ms. Anita Nguyen

Class of 2018

I have now graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill  in May of 201 with a degree in Philosophy and a GPA of 3.2. I am currently pursuing an advanced degree in DIVINITY at the Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte. My GOAL will be to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ so that we may flourish in his purity love and forgiveness. The EWHSAA scholarship allowed me to focus on my studies without incurring financial debt along the way!

Class of 2017

I am a Junior at UNC-Greensboro and a music major. I have thus far earned a 3.7 GPA. I have recently earned the SWORD OF HONOR award from the Sigma Alpha Iota sorority , Collegiate President of NC music Educators Award. Next spring I will be student teaching at the Nathanial Greene Elementary School. I will then attend graduate school for the NC ARTS ADMINISTRATION. Your EWHSAA Scholarship has allowed me to enjoy my first two years at UNC-G without worrying about money being a financial barrier to my studies. I am thankful for you all fostering our community beyond high school! Thank you for believing in me and my story.                                                                                                                                                       

Ms. Destiny King

Class of 2019

I am currently a Junior at NYU University. I am majoring in social work as well as global public health. Currently my GPA is 3.85 with high honors. I am completing research at the Bellevue Hospital School of Medicine. I have helped to develop a mobile harm reduction platform for families in an “unstable housing” situation. I will, in the near future ,complete a MASTERS in Social Work and later hopefully a PHD. The EWHSAA Scholarship has helped immensely covering my room and board for my first two years at NYU!
